Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

Hi!

So this time i got an SSN! It turns out my brother has an SSN and a Credit profile in the bureaus. He told me he wanted a new CC as he only has a Travel Rewards with 1,500 CL.

Stats of him are as follow:

Fico 8 EQ: 780

Fico 8 TU: 771

Fico 8 EX: 762

Income: 350,000

100% payment history, 0 hard inquiries, 0 negative marks, Oldest account 13 years,average age 5 years,utilization: 10%

He only has one CC which is the BoA with 1,500$ limit.

Do you think Chase will ask POI at application if i put his true salary that is 350k? Or would Chase ask POI? He is not a Chase customer only BoA. He lives in Europe too so his US driver's license is expired. Would i have any problems applying him to a CSP?? He's interested in the CSP as it has the Primary Auto Rental CDW coverage.  Please let me know! He told me he could add me as an AU. Could Chase ask something (SSN,ITIN) for the AU?

Just let me know, i just don't want him to get hit by a POI as we are in Europe and are going to handle this remotely. So any card that is hassle free with no FTF that's more useful than his travel rewards also works.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

OP, you 'dont have ss this time", someone else does.
While I haven't heard of them requesting POI, Chase will frequently go through verification process. He needs to be involved in this process as he will be the one responding in case they need something else.
His current European address will need to be provided and his contact info, not yours.
If he's been outside of USA long enough for his DL to expire, he may need to provide copy of his passport. Then there is proving residence by providing utility bill.
Given his long absence from USA, I'd imagine verification is quite likely to happen.
His credit age is fine, but with only one card and relatively low limit on it, CSP may or may not happen.
I personally think Chase would be all over this application due to Patriot Act.

As far as AUs, I had to provide as numbers for my kids.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

You would be providing false statement since Chase explicitly offers credit only to US citizens and residents.

Your actions would be borderline illegal.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

Are Credit Cards not offered in Europe? Seems to me it would be much simpler to aquire Credit in the Country you reside.

Also, if brother has existing credit. Why does he not simply apply for the new product himself?  People shouldn't apply for credit for others/family unless you know every detail of their life, and of course have their permission.

If you want more Credit on your own, expecially in U.S., perhaps you should get an ITIN.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

I am sorry guys here is a confusion, HE would apply and HE would be in phone call with Chase if needed. He has an US address.

He asked me for help...to advice him which cards to apply and to assist him in the application progress but he is going to talk with Chase, and fill all the verifications needed. I'm just his sister trying to help him, of course i have his permission but he is going to fill his papers and talk with the bank.

Something seems off with a profile like that and only a $1500 Boa card or is it just me? Even making $350k a year, my guess Chase gonna want to know who they are extending credit to and why the person has such a long file yet so thin. Hope everything works for DB OP .

It also seemed off to me that's why i told him to get a larger CC and he told me, can i get a larger CC?? and i told him of course! He has SSN, paid mortages, his own US address, savings in the US and is an ENT Surgeon, so i thought well if someone is in better standing even than i is my brother!

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

Chase requires SS number for AUs. If the sole purpose of you advising them to get this particular card is so you can be added, it wont work.
If this is the card they want, they can try. You just wont be able to benefit from it.
Without ss number and without residing in US, it might be wise you look into alternatives available to you wherever you're currently residing.

Them having US address while not living in US wont help them much.
Again, it boils down to "know your customer". Chase is particularly fond of enforcing this policy, partially due to the fines they paid when they weren't paying too much attention.
If something looks like it might become an issue, they will treat it like it's one already.

I'd look elsewhere. Good luck.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred - What to put

Agreed. Perhaps Amex would suit both of you better, they actually have a Global program.

Though I realize not as widely accepted as Visa/MC.
