Hey everyone!
I think that today is the day. We're a week into February, so my BCE, Citi DC, and Uber have all dropped off as they were opened two years ago in Dec/Jan, respectively. I'm at 4/24...YAY!
So, before I app for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, I want to throw out my DPs and get feedback one last time. ![]()
Inc - $46K
Util - 4% (all cards reporting 0% except Best Buy which is about 40% because of interest free financing)
Inqs - 4 for Exp (Rental agency, Nordstrom card, Sprint, and Best Buy), 3 for EQ (all for my auto loan), and 1 for TU (Barclays for my CLI on Uber)
Scores - EX 809 EQ 792 TU 781
Exceptional payment history and no baddies
I did BK Chase about about 20 years ago when I was in my early 20's
Thoughts on approval? Will Chase let me have the CSP as my first Chase card?
Also, I have my free SP for my Citi card. Should I do that before or after I app?
Thanks for all the help and thoughts. This is my goal card ever since I started on the board here and I'm really nervous!
Based on your DP's it seems you'd be good to go. I don't know about the BK with Chase though. Have you checked if you're pre-approved for CSP?
Hard to say with the bankruptcy, but there's only one way to find out for sure! Good luck!
Recon is always a second chance if they deny.

I really dont see why not, unless they are still holding the grudge 20 years later.
Your limits on other cards are adequate in terms of minimum starting line for CSP.
You can certainly request Citi CLI, but then you will need to wait till Citi reports and updates on all three CRA. Without reporting, it's not visible to other lenders.
Just pull the trigger and see what happens.
Good luck!
Good luck with your application! Report back to us! That BK was 20 yrs ago, I'd be surprised if they said no. If not an instant approval, it may be just a verification issue. Either way fingers crossed.
I had a Charge off with them in 2011 and was instantly approved for their SW visa card this past November. So, they definitely are forgiving ![]()

I wasn't sure about the BK either. I figured after 20+ years, it should be ok. I would hope. Maybe someone has experience with that before.d
As far as preapprovals, when I do their link, it says
"We are unable to locate any offers for you at this time.
This may be because you have opted out of "pre-screened" offers from Chase and other companies or you have recently responded to another offer from Chase.
However we may still have products to meet your needs. Please continue to chase"
When I log into their Credit Journey, it presents me a "3" over offers. When I go to the offers page, it says that one of the products may be right for me and then has credit cards, checking, and mortgage.
I've also received an invite to apply for their Marriott card with a set 17.49% rate. When I used the code to see what it involved it couldn't find the code in the system.
Just a little extra stuff there.

That's definitely encouraging to hear! :-) Congrats on your card!
Do they allow people to get a CSP as a first card with them?
Yes.... depending on your profile and limits on other cards. Also, relationship plays a key.
As for pre approvals, that site of theirs is hit or miss. I found mine when I logged in and went to the credit card tab (my online checking acct)
also on credit journey.
If you have a bank anywhere near you, it would be worth it to go in and check for offers.

Thanks for the follow up.
I did go to one of the Chase branches last month when I was in Chapel Hill, NC. Since I don't have an account with them, they said they couldn't see if I had any offers.
I'm glad that my limits should work in my favor. I only have one below $5000 and that will be closed if I get this card. 😊
If you do take on the free softpull offer from Citi at what date will it be added to your credit file?
Do you want to wait 30 days and take that utilization down to 1% and less?
