Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve - My Update

Thank you for your update. Your guess is in line with many others.

My previous two Chase cards were also went through pending approvals. One of the reasons could be that my legal first name is longer and I don't use that in my application. I always use my short name and of course that short name is not what it is in SSN and Driver License. Other than that I could not think of any reason for pending.

I am still optimistic to have higher limit than $35K (I haven't seen anyone higher than $35k as well). My rationale is that I already have Chase Marriott with $32K limit (aproved 2.5 years back and no change in the Credit Line Limit since) and my highest credit line limit is $48,400 on BoA (no change since 2008).

Let see. Only few hours from now I should able to finish my verification and know my limit.

I havent seen any higher limit than 35k for the CSR out of the gate regardless of Credit rating an income. But doesnt mean you cant move limits around after the fact. I opened mine up 829 score according to another bank and was approved for 30k, 625k a year income, I have a friend with the same scores as me wo makes 120k a year and they approved him for 31k, he had a chase slate with a 12k limit but no other chase products. Chase holds my mortage, im private client and I had 3 other chase cards at the time. I closed my sapphire preffered and moved 24 of the 25k limit over to the CSR. To bring it to the 54k limit. So I would hazard to guess your approved somwhere in the low 30s. Surprised you went pending through, mine was an instant approval.

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve - My Update

IMO no higher than 35k or 36k.

Mine was 31k high score and income.  A friend of mine with slightly higher income 35k.

Very highly unlikely to get higher, you would have to move a CL.

Update #4

I called first thing in the morning at 8.01 AM EST. Fraud department just wanted to make sure that I did apply my card. After hearing my yes, they transferred me to Verification. She aksed me several question(s) and she was satisfied.

Few hours later I called and was told that I am approved with $35K limit. Some of you had accurately guessed that figure and most of you were correct in ballpark estimation of $30K - $35K. You all could be "underwriters" for sure.... Smiley Happy

I had moved about $33K limit from my Marriott and Freedom accounts. So with that the limit stands to $68K.

What question(s) I may answer for you all?

Update #3

I called few minutes back and the represantative told me that your application is now with our "Fraud Investigation Team". They operate 8 AM - 8 PM Eastern M-F. So please call back 8 AM tomorrow. When asked as to is this department similar to like "ID verification". His answer was "sort of".

I am prepared to furnish copies of my SSN and perhaps Driver's License when asked by them tomorrow (if they request).

Now many of you would be thinking as to why so much rush? Folks I am out of my home base and on vacationing out of state/city. If I don't follow up, they may simply approve the application and send it to my home address, where there won't be anyone for 15 days. So the idea is to inform them of new address and ask them to send the cards to new Hotel address. I was told by customer service that it is possible for them to send it to my hotel address.

Note: These cards get sent via UPS in an attractive gift kind of pack. Why not? You are on a hook for $525/Year ($450 + $75 for authrozied user). But then again benefits are much more than that.

Update #2

My EQ inquiry was made. It did not affect my EQ credit score. It is still at 850. Not really bad. First time I had witnesed that an credit inquiry for new credit card don't change your score.

Update #1

I called them again and still pending. According to myfico.com alert, my EX inquiry was made and that it shaved "3" points from my credit score of 849. Now it stands at 846. Not too bad.

Not bad, Now you could do what I did and ask for CLI's on the cards you stole limits from. I immediatly asked chase for a limit increase on my freedom after getting approved and moving limits to the reserve.
