I applied for a Chase Slate that I was preapproved for and got the 7-10 day message online. I called the automated system and was told they would need 30 days for a decision, so I called the recon and was approved for only $500. I asked the lady if she could increase the limit and tried to explain why but she didn't seem in the mood to even listen. The reason I need the card is to cover a tuition payment (3550) and take advantage of the 0% intro rate.
Currently I have a Freedom w/ 1.7k and a Sapphire Pref w/ 5K limit. Balance on the Freedom is around 100 and the CSP was paid off completeley after the application (should have done it before, but I am on a time constraint due to the tuition payment). I was also removed from a Chase Marriott where I was an AU, that one had a balance of 11.5k w/ a limit of 12k. However, the payment for the CSP and the removal from the Marriott were too late to be considered in this application, I think.
My question is, should I try another HP this week and see if they raise the limit? Or simply try to move 2k limit from the CSP to the Slate so I can cover the payment I need and then do the HP for the increase in Jan or Feb?
EXP score is 713, TU 698. Disclosed 45k income w/ 815 rent payment. Also have a 360 car payment and some student loans in deferrment.
Welcome to the board. Try to recon the limit again without the hardpull. Deciding to let them hardpull you should be the very last option as that isn't a guarantee that you will get an increase. Another approach to take is, if you are close to a Chase branch, go in and talk to a banker. Often times, they are able to call lending directly on your behalf and explain the situation.
Lastly, if all else fails then move limits.
Thank you for your help. I had not thought of perhaps doing it through a banker. I will give that a try in the next few days.
Thanks again.
