Re: Chase Southwest Card

Discover isn't a lender you can guess score based on approval amount. They give higher limits to thinner profiles in general

Sure, persuasion helps. But you shouldn't need 4 tries and with certain financial institutions no is no. Where I work if it's denied then they may have one more person look at it. If it's still denied its done.

A similar thread I accidentally saw on this forum.

"I was declined with Chase Southwest Rewards Card 3 weeks ago and I attempted to recon 5 times and each time the answer was a big fat...NO!!! So today I decide to just try again and ..........VOILA'....Approved!!!! It is for a $500 credit limit just to help me build credit history but I was approved by a prime lender!!!!

THANK YOU!!!! I would never have the courage to keep trying unless without each and everyone of you and your information. Thank you so very much!!!

The number I used was 1-888-245-0625 Chase"

4-5 times? That's way too many. 2 max. Realistically, if they only approved you for $500 slate and then cited they want to see more experience with it then I would wait a few months. Try once more maybe but don't waste your time trying 5 times. That's bonkers

This was an advice from a friend who worked at a bank's credit department.  He has seen people got approved on their 4th tries.  As long as you think you have legitimate explainations, I don't see any reasons why you don't give yourself few more chances. It is not just about the person's credit history, but also an art of persuasion.

Persuasian can be helpful but if you were just given a $500 Slate and they want to see history with that, you can't really persuade your way around that reason because the denial makes sense. There are some denials you can try to explain your way out of; IMO this isn't one of them. Just need to be patient and try again later.
