I just applied for this card and received this message....
Thanks for applying.
We need to review your application a little longer.
We'll let you know our decision in writing as soon as we can. If we approve your application, you'll receive your card in the mail in 7-10 business days. Please don't resubmit your application.

What could it mean?

That was the same response I got when I applied for the IHG card... a couple of days later I was approved.
The message seems to be 'standard' for many people, but I will add that most folks wait until their scores are a little bit higher before applying with Chase.
I'm not trying to be negative, but I do want to make sure your expectations are set appropriately. Of course anything is possible, and Chase is also known to recon, so even if not approved be sure to give that a try.
Good luck! ![]()
How many accounts have you opened in the past 24 months? If it is over 5, it will be a denial due to 5/24.
7-10 is generally a denial.. BUT.. I got a 7-10 for my Chase Amazon Visa a few weeks ago. THen they called me 30 minutes later for verification.. and APPROVED!

I agree that if you call and hear the "7-10 day" message that's generally a denial, but it seems these days that most people (with exceptions, of course) are getting that message on the screen after they submit their application.
I also agree that based on what I've read, Southwest does appear to be under 5/24 now... hopefully the OP was aware of this and that's not an issue.

I read about it yesterday...I've opened all my accounts withing the past few months but from what I read it only applies to bank issued cards not store cards which is all I have but I could be wrong...I'm just dying for a bank issued card but with my inquiries (which I just recently read about being I'm new to this whole credit thing) I don't think I'll get approved for anything anytime soon...
Here's an excellent article that hits most of the 'high points' of 5/24: http://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-524-rule-explained-detail-need-know/

OP - What baddies do you have? How recent are they? Your TU score is decent enough to possibly be approved for Barclays Rewards MC. Or, you can join NFCU, your EQ and TU scores are probably good enough for an approval there as well. For info on how to join NFCU, look on the other credit board (lol), or PM me - that might be your best move!
Also, if you google credit pulls database, you can see what scores are getting approved for certain cards, that might help guide you in the right direction. The rebuilding forum also has a ton of information for you as well. My scores were similar to yours in April, and after a little work, they are now just under 700 for Ex and TU - And I have gotten a few awesome approvals lately (Chase, Amex, BofA)
Have you looked into BofA's partially secured card, with the 99/500 offer? I did that in May. It unsecured last month, I got my $99 deposit back, thy doubled my CL, and I had them change it to a Cash Rewards Visa!
Good luck!
