Hi guys, so 12 hours ago I decided to apply for the Chase United Quest card and I was giving the "7-10 day review" message which I thought was a good sign as it wasn't an auto denial. In the morning I called in when the department opened and I was told my application was denied but eligible for a reconsideration. I was then transferred over to a different rep and they put me on hold for about 5-10 minutes. When they came back on the line they told me that the system prompted for another review but that I can call back in 24 hours for a decision. Is this usually a good sign? I have good scores in the 700s and zero negatives besides some inquiries and one recent loan refinance. I have three cards with Chase, a freedom flex, sapphire reserve, and a business ink cash all paid off and all about 2+ years old.
It could be that the cumulative limits of your current cards with Chase is at or close to the limit that their automated system calculated you should be offered. You do have a realistic chance of getting the card, as a last ditch effort you can offer to have some limit transferred from either or both of your current personal cards in order to get the approval; Chase does not allow reallocation of limit from a business card to a personal card.
It could be that the analyst you spoke with was willing to approve but needed a senior analyst to review and countersign, I wouldn't take their comment as a bad sign.
Hope it ends in your favor! Either way, no biggie.
