So in October, I'm going to be at 4/24. I'm looking to apply for the CIC and AMEX Gold. Would it be better to apply for the Gold first since I won't get a hard pull and I'll avoid having another hard pull on my account from the CIC or should I do the CIC first to ensure that I'm under 5/24 when I apply? I'm under the understanding that I'll still be at 4/24, even if I apply for the AMEX gold first since it'll take around a month to report but I just want to be sure that I'm at 4/24 since the CIC is my 1st priority between the 2 cards.
Also, since the AMEX Gold won't report for a month, would I be safe apping for it now since I currently have the preapproval message and will still be under 5/24 on October 1st, or is that cutting it too close?

If the CIC is the card with the higher priority I would apply for that first and worry about the Gold card later. As you said you'll take a hardpull but won't report once approved. It also gives you the chance to recon if anything comes up as well. With AMEX they're not as strict which helps and even as a card member there's no absolute guarantee you won't get a hard pull. It has been known to happen from time to time with people
Only reason I'd push harder to app for the Gold card first is if there is a higher bonus whether tied to a limit time or simply higher than the public one. If your credit is solid you don't really need a pre-approval from them to be approved for the card
I wanted a couple of chase cards and I was at 4/24 applied back to back with only a few days apart. I wanted a new swa card, but then news came chase was doing away with the cf card and wanted that becuz I frequent Costco gas got approved for both.
