Chase application

So I received an invitation to apply for the Chase United Explorer card almost 2 weeks ago. Before I applied I checked pre-qualified offers on their website and nothing. Against my better judgment I went ahead and applied, I got the 30 day message so I called the automated system and still under review should receive a response in 30 days. I went to Chases website and checked for pre-qualified offers again and what do you know I'm pre-qualified for the Freedom and Slate. My credit isn't the best I have 2 baddies that are around $250 each both are falling off in April but I am paying them off. My fico is around 650 with 32 %utili and average age is 2.5 years. I don't know what to think about the United card. I've never had a card with Chase

Prequals are only for Chase cards, not the co branded cards like the United Explorer is. Like you can see in many other threads, the 30 day is ALMOST always an approval. usually just verification needed. Keep us posted and welcome.

OP:  if you can, i would hold off for the 50,000 miles offer.  

Also, have you checked out how your spend patterns would fall into this card, which only earns 1x with 2x for United purchases?

(unless free bags are a big deal i would go for sapphire preferred.  but others can chime in whether the credit standards differ for CSP)

I used to have CSP, but downgraded to Freedom when AF came due.  Now i have the United Club card as my main 1.5x workhorse for United miles via noncategory spend

Well, I applied on Dec 9 and FINALLY today I get the call from verification. I got APPROVED! !!!! First Chase card ever $5000 sl 50,000 bonus miles

Congrats! I just got in with Chase beginning of December with the Amazon rewards card....only for $500, but hey...ya gotta start somewhere.
