Not sure where it comes from to not call Chase. I tried looking and couldn't find the data, I'm sure someone has it somewhere but it just doesn't seem to make sense that that means an auto decline. Correlation doesn't imply causation, someone feel free to link the pending app with a high score that was rejected because they called though

I think people feel that calling puts you more under the microscope. If you are someone who aggressively seeks credit (and by most lenders standards, many of us are in that category), the analyst is going to mention it, but it's unclear whether it would have been a problem either way whether you called or not.

So some people prefer not to call because they don't want to feel scrutinized. I don't put a ton of stock into "don't call/call" because ultimately, if your profile supports approval, you're going to get approval. So just do whatever makes you feel better. Obviously calling will involve answering questions, which is going to be more intense if you've opened a ton of accounts, etc. I think some people extrapolate the "don't call" thing a little too far into meaning "don't call and you will be approved" which is not true, just like calling doesn't mean you WON'T be approved...everything in this landscape is YMMV.

Re: Chase apps

Grrrr.... one of my "2 week" phone message apps has been in limbo for 16 days.  I'm glad Irish and others have posted about their experience, which has given me the patience not to call in.

Check out this thread and keep waiting. Those who wait on Chase usually are rewarded!

Re: Chase apps

OP...patience is good but when you get close to the 30 days then please call in because after 30 days Chase happily pulls a new report and this is how I ended up with 4 HPs for my Freedom. I decided to not wait too long anymore and call in if it is for verification as double pulls are bad enough already IMO and I definitely do not need 4 pulls for 1 card Smiley Mad

Re: Chase apps

Update: thanks everyone for the encouragement. Unfortunately, I was denied. I had a nice CSR on recon recommend me for approval but I guess 2 hours later the person she had to send her recommendation to overturned her decision. She was very nice and was on the phone with me for 40 min trying to get as much positive info on my to refer up to whoever the next person up was. I appreciate the credit analyst trying hard for me.

Glad I at least know that I tried because it will make it easier to garden knowing it wasn't a possibility.

On a good note I opened a new comerica checking and savings account today after the denial and they waived the fees because I'm in the military, so that was nice.
