Re: Chase freedom

Oh well, figured it couldn't hurt to try. Denied, too many new accounts. I've been reading other posts recently of people with tons of new accounts and getting approved.

Their new rule is ridiculous. I can see more than 5 in a year, but not 2 years. Lesson learned. Into the garden for eternity. 😆

I was approved for a Chase Freedom Card in the amount of $4500 on 04-2015 with more than 7 bank card approvals between 10-2014 thur 03-2015 . 2 weeks ago applied

for a Chase IHG and Chase Southwest BINGO !!! both were approved for $$22,000 ea. I did a CL Conversion and and gave my Chase Freedom Card a little CLI $20000 .

The new policy started in May so your situation isn't reflective.  The others are co branded and also aren't part of the new policy

I do not believe it is that cut and dry honestly. However if you aren't instantly approved and have to go to manual review you will likely be declined on the excessive new accounts condition if your credit is anything short of outstanding.

This. I have 6 revolving accounts opened in the last 12 months and I still have prequal offers for both the Freedom and the CSP. In fact, the CSP just showed up more recently as the last major baddies fell off my EQ.

Doesn't mean you will be approved.

It isn't that cut and dried, you're right. I was initially declined, and got approved on recon. I apped May 31st, and had 7 new CC accounts in the last two years.

Your Freedom was approved prior to the policy change, and the other two cards are co-branded which aren't covered under the policy.

It's great that you were approved after recon at the beginning of the implementation of the new policy.  Nonetheless there is a new policy and whether a couple people here or there manage to get in doesn't change the fact that Chase has implemented, at least for now, this policy.  There are just far too many people reporting denials on this site and every other credit forum with very high credit scores for it not to be the case.

Re: Chase freedom

Cap, so you appd and reconned before this ridiculous rule?

It pisses me off, because 5 of them are rebuilder cards. I am going to close.

What? you were gardening!! Lol

I know you think it's ridiculous but didn't we all pretty clearly tell you what the policy was? I don't understand wasting a HP to learn the lesson we all told you would be the case. Oh well. What's done is done. Good luck!

Re: Chase freedom

People will start to shy away from chase for this reason. Amex and Citi will get the business, and hopefully it will backfire in chases face. 😁
