People will start to shy away from chase for this reason. Amex and Citi will get the business, and hopefully it will backfire in chases face. 😁
Eh. Most people do not open that many accounts per year, and any lender can decline for too many new accounts. What they feel is too many can vary. But this is not some outlandish, crazy reasoning from Chase....it's simply risk management.
I don't think it will backfire. Nobody outside of the forums really obtains that many new cards anyway, so I doubt most consumers would even notice the policy.

Kdm, I think I spend way too much time on this forum. I need to step away. 😉
I wasn't trying to chase you away! Although if it is over-tempting you, best to take a break and let those accounts age and grow.

Cap, so you appd and reconned before this ridiculous rule?
It pisses me off, because 5 of them are rebuilder cards. I am going to close.
Nope, it was after the rule was implemented.

Cap, what did you say to recon? She told me my account didn't qualify for recon because of the new accounts.
When she answered I opened with the usual "I just applied, it's under review, do you need additional information, blah, blah." She looked it up, said I'd been declined and asked if I'd like a reconsideration. I was thinking HELL YES, but said yes, please. She asked multiple questions but never even mentioned my new accounts. One of the questions she did ask was why I had closed three accounts. Easy answer since they were junk cards.
