Sounds like you should just open a checking account and wait for selected offers to show up. Seems like the lowest risk option. I think there are even some checking account bonues if you have some cash floating around that you can let sit in there.

If you're indeed over 5/24 you'll be denied. Regarding pulls - in VA they pulled my TU and EQ when I approved the CSP back in August. Anecdotally I've heard & seen that people who are borderline by chase standards will see a double pull when applying - my CSP approved at the required minimum limit of $5k and I got 2. But I can't say for sure if it's a hard and fast rule.
Just curious but how likely is this statement about those borderline seeing a double pull? When I applied for my Chase Freedom, they double pulled me but gave me a $10k SL.... I'd already had the Chase Slate and Chase Amazon cards at the time, both in good standing.

The op's fiance already had established credit history and an excellent score. So there was no need to tamper with her profile. Someone with little or no credit history would benefit from being added as an AU
@^ exactly, my friend had my AU accounts for >1 month, 200pt jump, refi @ penfed, 3 new cards. when one is in card exile for 1-2 years which I am one has to stay entertained.
