Chase recon.

Hello new here first post. I've done a lot of lurking here over the years tho. I recently applied for the chase freedom and was denied due bk. Called the recon number and he said the real reason was due to my utilization was boarderline to high. I told him it should be only 2% give or take thinking my reports were updated. Well he said ok they'd take another look if I called back and do a soft pull. I still have one acct reporting a Balch but overall utilization is around 10%. Should I call now or wait longer?

Welcome!

1st....when was your BK discharged?

2nd... Did you include them in your BK???

3rd...10% util isnt that bad... Id wait till your 2% reports, and then call back in, and tell the person you spoke with what the other rep said about waitiing for your util to change, and try again. They may be throwing you that line just as an denial.

Re: Chase recon.

Bk was discharged early 2011. Scores around 720 according to Barclay's monthly fico. The scores chase gave me in letter were 698 on a score range upto 900. They were not in the bk.

in that case, call back again, and get a different rep in the back door #'s. They werent IIB, so thats a PLUS, and your scores are good.  Knowing that info, Id back in now, and try again! Plead your case, tell them you want the freedom as to you go to card, etc....  Have you opened 5 CC's within the last 2 yrs?

That rep is feeding you a load of crap. Ive been approved with chase cards with over 20% usage. that is total BS. I would just call back again.

Re: Chase recon.

call them back. Late 2013 chase declined me on recon for Slate. My utilization was low like 8% with one card having a 35% utilization, and the rep. flat out told me no. My scores were not as good as yours and I should have tried it again! Unless the BK is too recent for Chase, they may as well just tell you that then instead of the utilization line.

Re: Chase recon.

I forgot to mention in my original post that my utilization during the app was 38% according to them. I guess I miss times when my reports were to be updated. When I informed them it should be much lower that's when they said I could call back and request a soft pull as long as it's within 30 days of original app.

Re: Chase recon.

Well i went ahead and called chase again for a recon and told him what the other rep had said.  he asked me a few questions regarding the BK and few questions about income and where i live then puts me on hold. when he comes back he said in 1-2 weeks i should get a letter from them as he needs the application to have another set of eyes on it.
