Checked Pre-approval for wayfair (pre-approved) no pre-approval for Home depot

Does anyone have insite on guidelines for Citi backed cards? I am post BK7 2.5 years. Just checked pre approval for wayfair and was supprised to see I was pre approved. I promptly checked for home depot and no dice. I have no interest in wayfair, but I would be intrested in home depot, possibly best buy.

Each Citi Retail CC program has their own UW criteria. So, it's possible to obtain a pre-approved offer for one but not the other. Best Buy doesn't currently have a pre-qualification portal, unfortunately. That said, if you wanted to roll the dice for Home Depot, you could always try.

I'm just curious..... I see all these say pre-approval. Is that what it is or is it actually pre-qualified? I've just only seen the other wording on their sites and know the two are easily confused.

Super confused about Citi myself. I got a preapproval in the mail for the Home Depot credit card yet when I fill in the prequalify on their website it says they can't prequalify me for their card 🤣.

Yea I don't know about that! My thing is are people doing a "pre-qualify" or an actual "Pre-approval". And either way after they got the 7-10 message what was the outcome.

Every lender has their own proprietary criteria as far as what parameters are set for a pre-qualification or pre-approved platform, whether offered online, at a banking location (if applicable) or any marketing solicitation via snail mail. So, a pre-approved offer from American Express will be pre-screened entirely different than a pre-approved offer from Chase, Discover, GS/Apple Card, SYNCB, Citi Retail or Comenity Bank, for example. The same would apply for pre-qualified offers such as those from FNBO, WF and other lenders. 

Often times, most of these, whether pre-qualified or pre-approved can yield reliable or solid results depending on an individual's profile. But, the community has also witnessed denials as well.
