Hello guys,
I applied for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum MC and got the following message:
We've received your application for Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Card credit card, and is currently under review at this time. We'll be in touch when we've made our decision.
Sometimes we may be able to post our decision in 24 hours, feel free to check back then. We'll be in touch in approximately 7-10 days via mail or email.
I have not received an email from Citi yet, but I did get an email from American Airlines welcoming me to their AAdvantage Program. Would that means likely verification? Or should I keep my hopes low? Whenever I get this kind of message is a denial but this AA email gave me some hope...
They pulled EQ. Have total 12 inquiries but only 2 over the last year (9-11 months ago both). Fico 8 score in 750s for EQ.
Give them a call in sticky section of this sub forum and see what they have to say.
@meteogeo It sounds promising but I don't have experience with Citi. I'd take the suggestion to call and either check automated status or speak with someone. Fingers crossed for you!
Just called them and they said it's income verification. They sent me a form to complete. My question is that my last year tax return (2023) is significantly lower (200k) than my current one (2024). For 2024 I am expected to make >300k which is what I included in my application. Should I include also a letter explaining that and send them a few recent paystubs from my employer?
Did they say they are wanting w-2/tax transcripts or just pay stubs if pay stubs that should be easy to approval otherwise 100k difference if quite a bit to explain esp if impacts your DTI a lot if it doesnt impact your DTI and still at a good position you likely will be ok. Never had to do income verification with citi. See if others weigh in here if they have gone through income wveirfiication with citi and want they wanted
They said something about form 4056 which I think is to give them access to my last 2 years 1040 tax returns... my one 2 years ago was in the 80s last year 205k and they this year will be in low 300k. I can send them paystubs as well... anyways if someone has similar experience or any advice let me know! Would be much appreciated

What do you do for work? I'm always looking for new ideas & opportunity's.
Hey Gregory1776- I am a doctor. I finished training 07/2023 and hence the significant change in income.

That form would have been an IRS 4506-C which allows you to authorize a vetted 3rd party access to your 1040 returns (Citibank is vetted by the IRS to receive them). It's late enough in this calendar year that the IRS should be able to provide your 2023 return.
I'd suggest including a letter with the 4506-C authorization that explains you started full time work last summer after graduating from school and include recent pay stubs that validate your current income, as that would also provide a rational reason for the delta in your 2022 and 2023 returns.
Good luck with the income verification!
Thank you. I called Citi bank again yesterday to ask about some questions about this form and explain my situation. I asked about providing paystubs along with a letter explaining my current employment status and she kept telling me they don't need those and just to send the form signed. Anyways, as you suggested I am planning to send my 2 most recent paystubs and a cover letter to explain all this along with the IRS form they requested. If they aren't satisfied, well, their loss. I am not gonna waste much more energy and time fighting for a CC.
