Citi Application Verification - Is this normal?

I am usually always on the forums using the great advice you all have provided and I want to say thank you. Now down to the mystery. lol. I recently applied for a Citi Double Cash credit card. After the application processed there was a message stating your Thank you for your Citi® Double Cash Card application. We're still reviewing it. Depending on how quickly we're able to process your information, we may post a decision here in 24 hours, so feel free to check back then. We'll be in touch in approximately 7-10 days via mail or email with a decision.

Well its been over 24 hrs and no response. I called and was asked to verify my address, name, dob and ssn along with the phone number on the application which is my cell phone (the account is in my name, but I just changed my phone number maybe 3 weeks ago). I then was asked to hold and was told we have to send you a letter that you will receive in 7-10 days by mail and once received you can give us a call back as the letter states what additional information is needed.

Is this normal? Do you think this is an approval but verification needs to be done? I havent applied for anything in over 2 years.

It could be normal. Last month I applied for the TY Premier and got an instant approval but for some reason 3 days later (on a Sunday no less) they called to verify that I had actually applied for the card and verified my info.

I have heard of people having to call to give further info before an approval so it could be. The fact they're still reviewing makes it impossible for me to lean one way or another.

OP, this is fairly normal when additional verification is required. Wait for the letter for next steps.

I recently applied for a Citi secured.... (Just to get my foot in the door the door with them..they don't like my file) and the application has been pending for 3 days now.... Starting to think that's just how the process is sometimes... I called and they verified my income and said I should hear back in 7-10 days.... Very different then how other issuers handle it...
