Citi Costco

What is my chances of getting approval for Citi Costco?

I was using Citi's free FICO scorecard till it knocked me off last month (90 days is what they give you). After logining in to see the score, towards the bottom, (looked like pre-approvals I think...its been a while) for various citi cards. Right before my trial had expired, it was showing DC, TY, gold AAdvantage cards.

When I check for pre-qualified offers today, there is none.

Which is more reliabile? Or do I need to steer clear of Citi for now. Scores are EQ 708, TU 656, EX 779 (what they would likely pull) and inquires on EX is 10/24.

Citi likes Ex and Eq , your scores there are solid. Only question is how they react to any recent inquiries in 6 months. I'd go for it though, hp be darned. At least this way you'll know where you reside in the CitiSmiley Wink

100% agreed. I've said before that the panic over HP's I sometimes see here is way overexaggerated, unless you've been doing big app sprees with a couple of dozen HP's in quick succession or something. One HP, or even a 3-bureau HP (as Cap One so annoyingly likes to do) for a card you really want to have isn't going to kill you. Now, I'm not sure of my chances on the Citi Costco myself seeing that I'm about 4 years out from having filed Chapter 7 BK with a co-branded Citi card included (ironically, that was Best Buy, which was transferred to Citi from Cap One just a few months before the BK), and even though Citi is more willing to approve co-branded cards for post-BK people (they won't even do it for their own cards until your BK has departed from your reports), I've read that you're stuck at whatever SL they give you on a cobranded card for post-BK, no CLI's for you. That being said, it's still a possibility down the road.

Re: Citi Costco

Applied for Costco Cities card. My fico 738/740 and was turned down. I suggest don't take a hit on your credit report.

There's a lot more involved in getting a credit card application approved than just your score. Average age of accounts, utilization, late payments (and other derogatories such as bankruptcy, which I referred to earlier in the thread) are some of the things that the issuer will take into account when considering your app.

I'm of the firm belief that if you want it, and it's going to be useful, why not try?! Smiley Happy

Re: Citi Costco Credit card

Thank you for the responses. They pulled EX which at the time was 779. Approved with an all time best SL I have received to date. I posted it in the approval section of the forums.
