Citi Double Cash CLI Denial!

Now my credit is all fixed with no baddies, solid 5 year payment record and scores in the 780's but still got declined for a Citi Double Cash CLI. I use this card to pay bills so use it a lot and received a letter stating Experian (the first time I tried the letter said Equfax) could not pull due to security block on credit file, I had the security freeze temporary off so they could do a real time check at the time. Maybe they are not doing real time checks? Not sure what to do because I want the Citi to be main card but can't with only a $1500 credit line.

Re: Citi Double Cash CLI Denial!

Another thing I should mention is the free Equifax score on the Citi web page has never worked for me, (had this card for years) it shows score not available and I told a customer service rep via chat about it, thinking since that's not pulling it may affect my credit increase pull as well.

Bigger concern, a security freeze does not prevent a creditor you already have an account with from pulling. Existing creditors can pull your report even if frozen.

Something is apparently wrong...just a guess...Citi has the wrong personal info for you somewhere. You normally need not unfreeze reports for existing creditors to pull.

Not necessarily. There are a variety of lenders who still require reports to be thawed for a CLI, even if SP.  SYNCB is one of them, for example.  Same thing for a variety who provide a monthly or quarterly score online.  Just because an existing creditor relationship exists, doesn't mean they can nilly-willy pull SP CRs when frozen.  Most can, but not all do.

I checked my personal info with Citi and credit bureaus, they all match. I just got off the phone with a rep who told me to write a letter to Citi's Credit Bureau Dispute, this forum has theirr fax number so I may use that.

@Anonymous  what are you going to dispute?

Some lenders provide score as a perk, but they aren't obligated to provide it or update it. They could stop today and nothing would change.

There are many members who have had derogs referenced months after they are gone. That's also allowed since the only limitation is how long they can be reported, but not how long lender can reference them in internal records.

When you go to request CLI, is SP language present or not?

I only mentioned the credit score thing because I feel it may be involved in them not pulling my credit report correctly.

What is derogs?

What do you mean by SP (Soft Pull) language present or not?

The rep on the phone just wanted to get me off the line when he gave me the credit dispute address, I wanted to escalated into a dept that could actually check on why my credit report could not be pulled. They said to check with the credit bureau, which I  already did and they report the credit file being open and that Citi should have no issues pulling.

I may just need to use my Discover card that has a $9000 CL

Re: Citi Double Cash CLI Denial!

What and when they pull may vary per person but I'll share how they do it with me just for a frame of reference. Every month Citi does a SP on my TU. They use that pull for their CLI decisions, so when I request it can be a delayed report of up to 1 month. They do not do a real time SP. I know that's not helpful to them not being able to access your reports, but just wanted to share that I don't believe they use completely real time info for a CLI decision.

Re: Citi Double Cash CLI Denial!

Just got email from Experian regrading a credit card inquiry, it was from Citi, I guess from all of my calling they decided to do a hard pull, anyways they gave me a CLI of $4500.
