Re: Citi Double Cash Card

Truthfully, with your scores, you should consider the US Bank Cash+, Huntington Voice, and Discover.  Each has a benefit.  If you get the Discover for the first year at double back this would be good.  Restaurants and Gas are always useful categories.  With the the US Bank card you can choose a 5% category which you always would get a benefit from and change it by the quarter, same with the Voice card, and that can be a good compliment to the Discover cards categories.  I have a card for every use and every card with a use gets used.  I love cash back!  I also love the signup bonuses!

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.

Re: Citi Double Cash Card

Yeah I did consider the Discover IT, and other cards. My friend has Discover IT and he always tells me the different categories and to be honest I would not benefit from them. I also considerd it because it doubles everything for the whole year, but after that one year Id have to apply for another card. I travel 5 miles to work so my gas is monimal, i am health freak so not much restaurant action, my groceries are minimal as i buy whats necessary. I did cibsider everythong and a constant 2% cash back works best for me. I been using 1% cash back for the past 10 year and was happy with it haha now i can double it all. Maybe down the line I will consider a good card with rotating quarterly rewards.

Congrats

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

That is true to some degree, but consider this, the Voice card lets you choose a category each quarter, or you can keep it the same, so at 3% for gas throughout the year, isn't that better than 2%?  It might be minimal, but over time it does add up.  The only drawback is that it adds another card to pay, which is why in my situation I simply have autopay set up for all the cards that allow it and then I neither have to worry or think about it.  Some people use the cash back right away, while others keep it as a special way to save up for something like a vacation.

Re: Citi Double Cash Card

for people like OP and myself the 2% vs 3% on gas based off of $25 a month is literally $3 a YEAR. so no, a new card, HP and AAoA ding is not worth $3 a year lol
