In the last year, I finally started to get into the credit card game. My first was approved in June 2018 -- Capital One Platinum with a measly $300 CL (now up to $500). At that point I had only two auto loans on my credit report, with nothing derogatory -- no late payments, nothing. In November my FICO scores had risen into the mid-700s, so I decided to try to get something really worthwhile, like a cash back card.
Discover approved me almost immediately (starting CL of $10K, now $12.5K). I used this card for just about every expense and the cash back has been phenomenal. After this approval, I decided to immediately apply for Capital One Quicksilver card -- and was approved with a $300 CL. Ugh. It's now up to $500.
I have lurked on this board for months and decided to stay away from apps for a few months. In late April I wanted a travel reward card and applied for a Chase Sapphire Preferred (approved for $5k CL) and the AMEX Platinum (instant denial). I then answered a prequalification for Citi Costco and received an instant approval for $9,500 CL.
I thought I was done, but I keep getting peppered at home with letters from Citi on an almost daily basis prompting me to apply for the Double Cash card. With all of my recent inquiries (I also traded in a car last month), should I even try? I'd like to have the card to lower my utilization (currently at around 10 percent on $28K limit). With all of my recent inquiries, would I be denied? Would Citi even let me have two cards opened within a month?
My FICO scores are around 730 across all bureaus, highest is Transunion, and my income is north of $200K/year.
I would put the brakes on for a little bit. Sometimes too much success leads to pitfalls.
6/6
If Citi sees that you've more than 6 inquiries in last 6 months then they made deny you. This is not a hard and fast rule as there are plenty of folks who are beyond 6/6 and still get approved for Citi. - https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/67u9q0/guide_antichurning_rules/

It may be advisable to wait for at least 3 months or so. However, just as a fun little anecdote, I got my DC at a time when I had an absurd amount of inquiries in the last few DAYS lol. Did you check the prequals? I also got a ton of the mailers for the DC.
Thanks. Where do I check the prequals? Is this different than what I get in the mail?
