Hey guys,
I was pre-qualified for the AA card at lowest rate and also double cash, thank you and 2 others all at lowest rates. I wanted the 50k miles bonus so applied right after I applied for my PenFed CLI. I have no new inquiries or accounts since Jan. Denied instantly! Figuring I might have put wrong info in called the status line and declined for too many recent inquries?! I just helped my friend app for this card with 2 new accounts in the past 2 months, and a score around 700 and was instantly approved. I guess I will be calling the EO number? This will be my first card with Citi and disappointed to say the least.
Thanks.
AAdvantage underwriting is a bit inq sensitive but if you want to go with a bit higher end card from them, the Prestige is NOT inq sensitive at all.

Sometimes computer will auto deny for too many inquiries. Try calling recon and see if they'll overturn it.
You do have a good chance at this but you'll need to contact the executive card support team in SD and ask them to resubmit your app internally for reconsideration.
OP, when you submitted the AAdvantage app, did you go through the Citi Prequalification tool pages, got the "Congrats you are preapproved for..." and then immediately clicked through that link to apply for the AAdvantage card?
or you got such a preapproval page, left it, apped PenFed, then came back some time later to a different Citi session to cold app the AAdvantage card without going through the prequalification steps?

Interesting data point, I used the code from the mailer. It had my last name spelled wrong, but would not take the app without the misspelled name. They are fixing the card now!
Hey Guys,
Sorry to take a bit to get back with you. Got extremely busy closing out the year end. I took advice and called Citi EO and got a very helpful lady about a week ago. She tooks some notes and said she would call me back within a day or two. Two days later she called to tell me I was approved at hte best APR as I requested with a weird dollar amount lol THe funny thing was after I was denied I kept recieving mailers with otehr Citi cards at the best APR. She said it was simply my inquiries and not to be shy about calling again, everything else in my file looked great
Now to deal with NASA on trying to get a PLOC lol
Thanks for everyones help!

Well, you have to consider you will be paying them a big AF if approved. That allows them to gloss over a few INQ ![]()
