Citi Premier vs Amex Gold

I was wondering which would one suggest if it was between the two? I'm not loyal to any airline or hotel chain but would primarily prefer to fly delta. But I'm flexible. I won't be applying for probably another year. But figured I would do some research.

At the moment I'm at 649 and 650 TU and EX. Unsure on EQ. Perfect payments. What's holding me down is after the house we went a little shopping. So I'm paying those down. But in about a year I should be in the 700s again.

What confuses me about Citi is on the application it says points can only be transferred to certain partners which are partners we don't have here in MN I don't think. But prior to applying it says points can be used on any airline. Does anyone know? If it's restrictive then my choice is easy. Amex Gold.

Re: Citi Premier vs Amex Gold

Citi is going to be more foreign airlines

Amex has a good mix of airlines and MR's are going to be more versatile in how you can use them.

Being airline agnostic makes it easier to go for the better deal when it comes to the CC options.

It's because you can use the Citi travel center and redeem points for revenue flights at a 1.25 cent/pt rate like with Chase and CSP so technically they're right.

Re: Citi Premier vs Amex Gold

Amex is going to be heavy Delta based US domestic.

Citi gives you a flat 1.25 redemption in the portal which isn't crazy, but the travel portal is very nice. Amex Travel on the other hand... Smiley Frustrated
