Citi Secured email

Does the standard Citi email for the secured card after applying state: ”Congratulations! You've been approved for a Citi® account, subject to receipt of collateral. Therefore, before we can open your card account, a deposit is required to secure it.“

Or does this really mean approval?

Sounds like it. Congrats!

Re: Citi Secured email

Yup, you're approved.
Once they receive the collateral, you'll get an email saying that your account is open as of "X" date and that you'll get your card in 7-10.

Re: Citi Secured email

You’re definitely approved! I got the same email last week when I applied. They withdrew the money from my checking account 2 days later. They’ve been holding my deposit for 5 business days now and I’m still waiting for the “account officially opend email”. I just got off the phone with Citi and they stated everything is moving forward as usual and they are finializing my account opening. They also stated I should receive the email within the next 4 days. Slow process but I’m still super excited I was approved with such a low score. Ex 506 FICO . I was also approved for the US bank skypass secured card in the same week. Even slower process but I’m grateful! Lol

Re: Citi Secured email

A bit off topic, but I wish there was a dedicated master thread for secured card approvals with data points.  Many of us are limited as to where we can apply and then by our scores and CR details.  The last thing we rebuilders need is blown inquiries unless you truly have a shot that is.

By the way, congrats all on your Citi approvals.

Re: Citi Secured email

I agree with you spiritcraft. Just a few data points on the US bank skypass secured and Citi secured card approvals. Scores were very low 500’s with 3 current collections and a 2-1/2 year old bankruptcy. Citi was an instant approval and asked for deposit immediately while US bank gave me the 7-10 day message, then randomly withdrew my deposit from my checking 10 days later. Two days after the payment cleared my account they sent me the congratulations im approved email and to expect my card in 7-10 more days.

Re: Citi Secured email

I’d be willing to start a general secured thread if there isn’t one already. They did a Eq pull and my FAKO was 500 with 5 open collections and 0 TL.

Re: Citi Secured email

Update- so credit-slog knows exactly what to expect. Citi instant approval on 10/18 and I immediately put in deposit info. Funds withdrawn on 10/22. Citi account opened email arrived 10/27. Citi card should arrive in 7-10 days from day of account opening per Citi approved email.
