Citi Secured

I'm considering applying for the Citi secured card, and wondering what you guys think. I have a Visa from my credit union with a $1500 credit limit, a $450 Credit One Visa account and a $300 Indigo Visa. I was just approved for a Discover IT Secured card.

My goal is to get an American Airlines Citi Card, and I'm hoping that it might help for me to establishe a relationship.

I understand this card takes 18 months to transition, and that's fine, but will I have to wait that long to apply for the AA Citi card?

I was hoping to try in about 6 months, when my scores should be in the high 600s.

What say the group?

Re: Citi Secured

I would think that having a secured card with Citi would help you establish a relationship with them that will help in achieving your goal. I'm not sure how old the secured card would need to be to apply for another card.

That's what I'm hoping. I think I'll go for it, and hope for the best.

Re: Citi Secured

Did you get the citi secured card?  I received mine in May of 18, I deposited 1500 to start the account.  Does it really take 18 months to transition to a unsecured card?

Re: Citi Secured

I didn't get it. I later received a letter said that it couldn't be opened at this time. I was pretty disappointed. I'll wait a few months and try again.
