Hi, I have just reached 1y credit history. My secured Bankamericard opened 1y and a few days ago, and has graduated and PCed to a Travel Rewards Platinum Plus card a few months ago, now SP is 4.5K. Yesterday I apped for the Premium Rewards card but was declined automatically by system, with a HP. Before the app, my score was around 760. So I called the backdoor number, the rep told me reason I was declined was that I don’t have sufficient credit history. Then I decided to app for another Travel Rewards card, which will give me 20K points for signup bonus. The system approved my app with the same HP, and I can see it in my online bank that it’s a VS card with 5K SP. But I really want the PR card bc I have a travel plan pretty soon and the signup bonus can help cover the spent a lot. So I app online again, thinking I’ve got at least 5K credit limit now which is what a PR card requires for minimum CL. This time my app becomes “in review”.
My question: 1. Is it because I have a 5K CL that the system didn’t reject my app, or because that I have submitted too many apps in a few days?
2. Should I call the backdoor number for recon?
