Citi Simplicity Recon

I applied for a city simplicity card earlier in November. 670 FICO.  I was interested in the 0% for quite a long time. I was declined, received a letter in the mail stating it was because of delinquency on my report not enough history. (Have a Midland Credit collection) (have had credit for a long time, I'm 32)

I called the reconsideration line spoke to the lady she basically said they can't approve me until that M ark is off my credit report. I was disappointed. I said " it's interesting how American Express approved me in March of this year with that mark on my credit report and gave me a a $5000 limit I'm very happy with them. I'm sorry we can't do business even though I've had friends and family tell me what a great company you guys are. Have a good day" and hung up. Oh well.

Re: Citi Simplicity Recon

That's too bad OP, but not every lender will look at that "mark" the same way. Just try again once it's gone

Agree.  OP, just because one lender is willing to approve a tradeline with that "mark" on your profile doesn't mean others will.  Just how the game of credit works sometimes.  Citi just happens to be quirky, that's all.

Re: Citi Simplicity Recon

If you really don't want to waste the HP, contact the Citbank EO as listed in the Backkdoor Number thread (that is, if you haven't done that already - you said recon which I'm not sure). A very kind lady in that department was able to get my application denial overturned for a AAdvantage Platinum Select card earlier this year, for an approval of $5K limit and 19.99% APR (not bad for me). It took a few days, but she called me to let me know it had been approved and my card was on the way.

I had a large number of INQ and one unpaid collection account (from 2011) on my report at the time.
