Hello Fellow Forum Members!
First, I just want to generally thank this entire community for excellent advice. I have been relying on it for nearly two years and have successfully used it to dig myself out of some serious credit troubles. So, thank you!
Now, to my question. I just got approved for a Citi ThankYou Preferred card with a $6,100 initial CL. It was in response to a targeted offer in the mail: 0% intro APR for 15 months. 19.99% variable thereafter. No AF. No foreign transaction fees. I liked this card because I am getting married and going abroad for a honeymoon in two months, so I would love to put some expenses on a card and pay them off in a few months. While the initial CL isn't terrible, I would like it to be around $10-15K.
Question 1: Can I ask for a review of the initial CL to have it increased to what I want?
Question 2: If yes, when and how do I do it? Wait for the card? Call the CSRs first thing in the morning?
Question 3: I have read on a few threads that requesting a $25K line once you get the card in the mail works out well because Citi does counteroffers. Is this true? Any more anecdotes about this?
Just some basic parameters for those that want to know:
Scores: 699 FICO 8/705 Bankcard (EX); 695 FICO 8/709 Bankcard (EQ); 693 (TU)
AAoA: 11 years
Other cards: Chase United MileagePlus Explorer ($10K); Capital One ($2500)
Util.: Less than 3%
Charged off auto loan from 6 years ago (paid for less than full balance)
Student loans in the 6 figures (a few lates 3 years or older)
$130K annual income
Thanks in advance for all the responses!
Yes, Once you receive the card and set up online access go in and request CLI through the online system... it will instantly come back and say it could not offer cli at this time but if you would like to send it to underwriting for manual review you can... click yes and it will ask what amount again... I suggest the $25k because many have chickened out and ask for just $15k or $20k and have gotten them in full... if they won't do $25k they will counter.
usually you get an email in under an hour or two to log into your account and you will see new cl.
Thanks, Creditaddict. Do you know if asking for manual review results in a SP or a second HP? Or is it YMMV?
Congrats!
