I'm so excited to close on my house tomorrow, 10/23. It's been a long road and the amazing folks on these forums have been instrumental in helping me to get here, and for that a huge thank you!
So on to my app spree. I currently just have one card, a Cap1 Venture1 World Elite MC, so I need to up my game. My goal is to get cards with 0% intro SUBs since I have a lot of purchasing to do to set up the new house.
Target cards:
Potentials:
Any others I should consider? Fico 8 703 for all 3, Fico 9 EQ 718, TU 717, EX 716
Also, is there a specific order of applying I should consider? My current card is 8 yrs old.
Those are some good cards. What categories are biggest spend?
US Bank would be first app. Inquiry sensitive. Cash Plus gives 5% on utilities. That's always nice. Altitude covers Dining.
Target, you also have Debit option. Gives same benefit as CC and saves an HP.
BofA is a solid card. Categories you can change. Disco is also solid.
id go with US Bank CP, BofA, and Disco. Then Costco. Starting with 3, just my opinion.
With your current status with BoA that may be a good option, does the card show you "pre-selected" when you log into your account? My wife has a TU FICO 8 of 671 currently and is Gold with BoA and she does pre-selected for CR, but I don't know if she would actually qualify with her score.
Citi Costco I believe typically likes scores 740+, I don't think I was quite that high last year when I was approved though. It is a really fantastic card so I would say go for it.
If you were interested in a US Bank card, I don't know the approval odds at all but I would apply for it first since they are finicky about new accounts from everything I have read.
Disco is a pretty good card to have, I would go for it, maybe apply for it last.

@blindambition thanks! Spend categories would be home furnishings/improvements, dining, with Christmas coming, Amazon. Utilities wold be a great idea.
I already have the Target debit card so I wasn't going to take an inq to get the credit card.
When I got the mortgage with US bank, I opened up a checking account to get $1k off closing costs and was assigned a relationship banker. Should I go through him to apply?

If the gave you a Relationship banker, definitely take advantage of that. I'd say CP, you can choose utilities and Dining as another category. You could choose shopping on BofA for holiday/home shopping.
@sxa001 I do see pre-selected for CR on my BofA account when I log in. I take that as a pretty good indicator.
I'm on the fence with US Bank. They weren't on my list initially because I was thinking just three cards with the third being Disco.
Just wanted to share my status... I've got mixed results.
1. US Bank Altitude Go and Cash+ - Did this first based on suggestions here. I went through my relationship banker to apply (he said I could do both cards with 1 HP)and the apps were put into review. Called underwriting today to find out status and was denied for too many inquiries. When I applied on Friday, the only inquiries on my credit report were from mortgage shopping! I thought that would just count for one since they were all within a 30 day time frame. Got in touch with my relationship banker and he said he will reach out to underwriting tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
2. BofA Cash Rewards - Did this second. After confirming with fraud department - looks like I had SageStream frozen - Approved! Weird part is I have no idea how much for yet. Is there any way to check or do I have to wait until the card comes?
3. Citi Costco - Did this third. After app glitch, denied for too many inquiries again and the lady I spoke with said that there was no recon. past her.
4. Discover It - Did this fourth, now I have the prior three HPs. On Friday I got the 11.99% on the pre-qual site but waited until today to pull the trigger. Went back to the prequal and today it came back with 16.99%. I submitted the app and was asked to call in. Provided info and was denied for too many inquiries again and the lady I spoke with said that there was no recon past her.
I'm really disappointed in this app spree. I was hoping for two cards out of it, maybe three.
Any other recon advice or is everyone just getting stingier with covid lending?

If you already have an online account with BoA you should be able to see the info for your Cash Rewards card by Wednesday. If you live near a branch you can stop by and ask them to look it up for you as well. Congrats on your approval, that card is a bit of a sleeper.
As for your multiple mortgage inquiries, you fell victim to a common misconception. They are grouped together as one ONLY for the purposes of scoring. They are still all REPORTED individually and a lender can choose to evaluate them however they choose.
Sorry you didn't have as much success as you had hoped for.
@coldfusion Thanks. I did fall victim to that. I wish I would have known, I would not have burned that many HPs on the mortgage.
