Hello, I had a Secured Discover card almost 2 years ago that was graduated from $500-$3300. In that time, I improved my credit a great deal. Scores went from 600-715. So, I applied for another Discover card 2 weeks ago, with the plans to combine them into the new one and drop the old account(not concerned with AAoA). Thus, giving me a higher limit, and moving away from the "once secured" account.
My quest is, how does one go about this? Is there a option online to move credit around like I did with my Amex cards? Is there a inquiry involved? Thanks guys.
I think Pizza1 has done it...
Think theres a few tricks to have it work..
I know you probably want to try this when their actual credit department is open, not chat, not email.....
Hopefully Pizza1 will comment on this thread
I had mine combined, but only after a CSR suggested that I apply for a new card and combine the limits since there were not CLIs available to me... Then many many many people told me it was not possible to do this unless you ARE eligible for a CLI... Then a supervisor reviewed all my calls, and was able to get the combination done. The way I have been explained every single time I've asked since then has been the same, you need to be eligible for a CLI on receiving card - You call in - You request they move the line over - they say yes or no. Luckily, I'll never be eligible for a CLI with Discover again, so I don't have to worry about that lol. I'll be under 5/24 before that ever comes.
Ok, I'll give it a few months before I call in. I dont want to rock the boat to much with them. Thanks for the help.
