Comenity Bank Application Status

I applied for one of their store cards 2 weeks ago. I haven’t received anything in the mail so I decided to call.

1. For some reason my application had my old address. When I applied they didn’t ask for an address and when I clicked “submit” I was kinda shocked and contacted customer service right away and they updated my address. But obviously that wasn’t the case.

2. So she said sorry about that, updated the address and said they will re-issue the decision.

I didn’t even ask, but she told me she cannot discuss the decision over the phone. So does this sound like a denial? I was almost sure i was just going to get a verification in the mail since when I applied before, they instantly denied me.

Just wondering if it’s normal to say they cannot discuss the decision whether I’m approved or not.

Yes. That happened to me a few years ago when I apped for the Gamestop card. (it was new then) After calling twice, finally found that it was verification and was instantly approved.

Unfortunately, that tends to be the case OP. That's just Comenity's internal policy.

In certain instances, some folks have reached out to one of the backdoor numbers for Comenity, but results can vary on whether they can verify the required information at that point or simply wait until the letter arrives.

Thank you for the responses. 

 

Just to update, I contacted Comenity via Twitter and they told me the information received was not correct, so they called me and told me they were having problems verifying my address so send in proof of address, drivers license etc and wait for that letter in the mail.
