So with all the corona virus stuff going on I have found myself spending alot of money on the playstation store. Because of this I thought it would be benificial to get the playstation rewards visa card. I went online to apply for the card (thinking that it was still issued by Capital One). I filled out the application and submitted and then received an e-mail from Comenity saying we are taking a closer look & will reach out within two weeks. At this point I realized that it was issued by Commenity now and figured that it was just one of their ID verification letters being sent. I received the letter in the mail today and was shocked that my application was declined. The reason said that "We are unable to approve your application at this time due to too many recent inquiries." I was pretty shocked by this as they pulled Experian and I only have two inquires on my credit report. One of those inquires was from a year and a half ago when I applied and was approved for the Williams Sonoma Visa issued through them with a $5500.00 credit limit (now at $7200.00). The other inquiry was from my credit union BCU where I applied for a credit limit increase on my CC a year and nine months ago. My current Experian FICO 8 score is 768. The credit score listed on the decline letter was 18? I have three Comenity cards (AKC visa for 5 years: $6200.00 limit, Williams Sonoma Visa $7200.00 limit, and Helzburg Diamonds CC with $16,000.00 limit...This account was recently sent to them from Capital One). I have $121,000 in credit across everything I have with 2% utilization across all accounts. I know Comenity does not recon, however, I did call in to ask about the 18 Experian score that was listed, and asked where it was obtained. All the rep would tell me is that it is a calculation that Comenity uses. I then asked about the decline & why 2 inquires in the last two years would be considered too many recent inquiries. All the rep would tell me then was that I am welcome to reapply for the account after 30 days. My question is this...Has anyone else ran into anything like this with Comenity Bank since all the corona virus stuff has started? If so, what was the situation? It looks to me like they are being way to cautious and just looking for reasons to decline. Any input is appreciated. TYIA.
