Do they pull these out of a magic hat???? Last week i applied for Crate and Barrel and got the denial letter today. 974 internal score out of 999 and the reasons given for my low credit score (their words) were number of new accts and inquiries. I agree and fully acknowledge that part. But then they throw in "recent late payments to installment acct." I update my reports daily and have nothing negative. Why bother giving a reason if it's so far off??
That sucks but I don't think the making up of reasons for denial is exclusive to Comenity. A lot of banks do it because they feel that they have to list reasons even if they are not true

I would print a copy of the CR that they denied from, mail it to them with copy of their denial and request for recon as you have no late payments..

Hard core. No way going thru all that for a crate and barrel. Just use your amex.

I don't do well talking to Comenity, so i doubt writing will be much different. I just wanted the discount for new knife set and dishes. I used Citi HHonors for the purchase
Starting to think Comenity is like CreditOne and doesn't like heavy hitters.
They literally are STUPID when it's not computer approval... it's all hope out window to talk to anyone with a brain cell or training in how credit works and how to handle the issues that the computer throws out like this.
I just chalk it up as a lost cause and don't even bother calling anymore if it's not automated or pre-approved.
