Comenity Humor

Back Story:

SO back on January 29th I apped for Victorias Secret and reveived the 7-10 day BS. That very same day I was looking for my daughter a down jacket on Eddie Bauer and upon checkout I got a pre-approved popup AKA SCT. I accepted and received a $250 limit.

Today:

I received a letter from Comenity explaining that I was denied for a line of credit with VS and its due to my EX credit score being 203.....Yes it says 203. I didnt know CS's could go that low. The funny thing is mt EX CS at that time was over 600.

Am I losing teh plot here or is their scoring system flawed? How is it that the SCT worked for EB, but I received a denial for VS?

Seems very suspect IMO.

Re: Comenity Humor

IIRC, Comenity uses their own in house scoring system and the results are usually a far cry from true FICO scores.

As far as being approved for one and denied for another, while the same bank ultimately issues the credit, each business can set their own credit requirements.

Example: I was approved for Amazon and Walmart, but denied for Lowes, but all are Synch backed cards.

Total Available Credit: $145,950   ||Feb 2018||EQ08-705||EX08-728||TU08-741||

Re: Comenity Humor

Just for kicks you should try the SCT at Victoria's Secret and see what happens. They are one of the few that will tell you the amount in the pre-approval pop up screen. For the ones I've gotten the pop up for, VS was the highest.

I also got approved for WM and Amazon but no other Synch cards, including Lowe's. I also don't get the SCT pop up for all the possible Comenity sites.

I try it a couple times per day and i get nothing. It will happen sooner or later. really only want the card for my wife since she shops their regularly. I am not in with Sync yet, and was denied for a Walmart card at teh beginning of Jan. Probably wont cold app for another card for quite a while.

I have registered with about 95% of the comenity sites and only received the Eddie Bauer popup and that happened when I wasnt expecting it or thinking about the SCT. This credit game is very elusive at times and I am thoroughly enjoying the thrill of the hunt.

The SCT hasn't worked for me although I've gotten a couple of cards by apping anyway with something in the cart (PayPal Credit and Amazon Prime). Comenity doesn't like me, only able to get Overstock with them. I have a few Sync cards but failed with Lowes and that's the one I really want/need (time to buy a new riding lawnmower (want one sith a few bells and whistles).

You are right, it is elusive for those of us that are sitting right on the edge of respectability. Glad you're having fun with it 'cause it not always so with me. Glad for the approvals and CLI's but the denials are heartbreaking. Smiley Frustrated
