Comenity Mastercard Application

I am curious. Few days ago I received an email from Comenity asking me to apply for their Mastercard. Initially I have ignored it. Today I felt like submitting an Application. I got message they will take 2 weeks to get back to me. Probably a decline and I probably would not get it any way. What I am puzzled is I have frozen all 3 credit reports. Would they try to pull a report ? Would they ask me to unfreeze the reports or will the flat out send me a decline letter. Any way I should receive a letter from them in the next couple of weeks. Let us see what it says.

Yes they will try to do a HP. Whether they will ask for you to unfreeze or straight up decline, I'm not sure. Someone with more Comenity experience may be able to answer that.

Thanks OmarGB9.  Either way it is fine with me.  If they approve it is good. If they dont that is okay too. There is no way I am unfreezing my reports for them. I am going to wait until August 2021 and when my Amex Optima becomes 12 months then I might apply for Amex Amazon Business Credit Card. If I get that card then I get it. If Amex says no that is okay too. I have no desire to get any new cards at this time in my life. That is it for this year 2021.

Re: Comenity Mastercard Application

You would need to unfreeze your reports including SageStream for this.  It is likely that your application was denied because of frozen reports.

It is possible I need to unfreeze my report. Even if unfreeze the reports there is no guarantee they would not decline. I have Venus and Williams Sonoma card with them and every time I ask for CLI I get declined with various reasons. That is the reason I am not too excited to ask them for a card. Let us see what they say about the application and what response they will send. Worst of all I dont want to end up getting a new card with $300 - $400 low credit limit also take ding for new account inquiry and drop in account age. I am going to take my chances. I'll wait and see what they say.

True, there's no guarantees you'd be approved if you unfreeze your reports.  That said, the majority of Comenity CCs, especially V/MC, typically require CRs + SageStream thawed out if you want your application considered for review.  Lots of recent data points on this.  See what your letter says when you receive it.

Re: Comenity Mastercard Application

Have you addressed any of the various reasons given in the decline letters you've received? Those will tell you what they don't like. If they aren't addressed, it's unlikely Comenity will increase your lines, and it casts doubt on your chances for a good approval (or any approval) on another card from them.

I would wait, address their listed reasons, and try again after those changes are reflected on your reports.

Does this Comenity MC require a HP ?

When I applied for Comenity's Sportsmans Guide VISA, they didn't do a HP - it was all SP - my report is frozen....

Even before the card arrives, it's already reporting on all 3 CRA.

For this particular card/invite, yes.

This wasn't a SCT and the OP received an invitation to apply.  Unlike the process you went through with SGV.
