Re: Consider NASA...questions

I wouldn't do a PC, just wait 6 months and apply for a new card with them.  Use the 7.9 checks if you think you need to carry a balance.

Re: Consider NASA...questions

I'm pretty sure when you app, they give you the options of the cards you're approved for with the limits and APRs. At least that's what happened for me. I got approved for the Cash Rewards and Rewards cards. Cash rewards had a slightly higher APR which I think is typical.

To everyone denied, don't give up if you think you should have been approved, call and speak to a CSR.   I joined, immediately apped and was denied on 9/24 due to "excessive obligations". Which really isn't correct. I called this morning and asked for recon, she said it was a committee and would take a while to recon, put me on hold a few minutes, and told me the lending manager said to put another app in and she would review. I went for it, just got email approval and docs to sign, 30K at 9.9%. Logged in to check status and no new app was filed, they just approved the original app from 9/24. Status says "funded". Checked EX backdoor, shows 4 SP, nothing since 9/24 though, so they even used the original pull.

I told them my "excessive obligations" probably came from my amex charge which is PIF every month, she said yes it was probably why and they would manually adjust it to calculate as a 2% monthly min.

The CSR laughed when she gave me the application # and said they had been really busy with apps this week!

Thanks everyone, can't wait for my galaxy card!

That's not how it worked for me.  During the application, there was just a little drop down for you to select the card type and image you wanted.  It didn't approve me for a line and then have me select the card.  I had to request the type of card.

And APR is dependent on creditworthiness, not card type.

I got the little drop down with card type and image. It appeared to list all three card designs in all three types. I didn't see any limit or APR information. Still PENDING, for almost 24 hours now.

Right.  There were 9 options in the drop down.

It went something like:

Plat Cash - Eclipse

Plat Cash - Galazy

Plat Cash - Launch

Classic - Eclipse

Classic - Galazy

Classic - Launch

Plat Rewards - Eclipse

Plat Rewards - Galazy

Plat Rewards - Launch

Re: Consider NASA...questions

I've been waiting almost 4 days for my membership to be approved. They requested my ID and Utility bill (twice).

The regular credit card page gives you the APR range.

Platinum advantage as low as 9.9% (max of 17.99%)

platinum cash rewards as low as 13.9% (max of 17.99%)

Visa classic as low as 12.9% (max of 17.99%)

Obviously you can end up getting anything in that range, but if you think you'll qualify for their lowest APR, you'll get it on the plat advantage rewards card.
