Well from what I can see, the great approvals and CLs are still in full effect. I'm gonna try my luck towards the middle of the month when all my CC balances are showing PIF or at the most 10% or less ( and that's only on 1 CC). So my question is, which do you guys think is a better to app for, the Cash or the rewards CC? From what I gather you only get 2.25% once you've spent at least $2000 or more on the CC. Do you think the reward points are better, in your own opinions? If possible could you give some examples why you like 1 over the other? Thanks in advance!

I don't want to discourage you, but I don't believe we've seen someone approved with your scores, for any CL.

Thanks for the insight. I'm aware my scores and baddies don't make it very plausible that I'll get approved, especially for the very large and generous CLs I've been seeing, but I figure if it might be a SP anyway, why not take the chance? At this point in my rebuilding, every little bit helps.

2% cashback over $2000 annual spend with a $30,000 limit is a pretty solid product.

That sounds great and all, but if you carry a balance after the intro 0% APR, then the higher APR will negate it. The rewards CC is 9.9% APR at it's lowest, and I believe the cash starts at 13.9% APR, which is an extra 4%, and those are prime rates. As much as I would like them, I doubt I'll get a prime rate that low and I know at this point in time, I can't guarantee I'll never carry a balance, so the rewards is the better bet for me. Thanks for replying though.

That was actually in response to the rewards program being "gay" but I quoted it wrong.

If you're not carrying a balance APR means nothing.  Also the difference between 9.9% and 13.9% interest over a year's time on a $5000 balance is a little over $100 so it's not like it's a huge disparity.

Yes, until the Double Cash came along, 2% on a Visa/MC after a low initial threshold was actually very good.   The Fidelity Visa doesn't start giving 2% until $15K spend for example.   The only real negative is that rewards are paid annually.

What do you mean by rewards are paid annually? Do you mean I can only receive the cash back annually? Or are you saying the rewards CC they offer only allow you to redeem points annually? Ouch, that's pretty harsh either way. I still want the CC, but that does add that smudge to the CCs otherwise seemingly flawless visage.

The Cash back is paid once a year.    From: https://www.nasafcu.com/platinum-truth-in-lending/

The cash rebate is earned with purchases beginning on the first day in which the program begins and is paid annually to accounts open and in good standing on the posting date

The points card pays monthly, but that is a 1% card

Wow, I didn't know/realize that. Well thanks for letting me know. The rewards CC is sound better all the time now, lol.

I guess if you break it down that way, then yeah $100/150 per year is not a huge deal. I guess it's up to me to deem if it's worth it or not. (And up to NASA to even give me the CC, lol) I'm just a bit scared to app since I'll be apping on the 16th and I believe my BK was filed on Oct 18th, 2012, and I hear they like to see a full 24 months of good payments on accounts POST BK. I guess I'll find out when I app.

i was told on recon...24 months of on time payments post bk

So you app'ed and had to recon since they denied you at first? If you don't mind me asking, when did you app? When did you recon and get the CC? And when was your BK? I mean, I've heard these have been SPs for most, but if apping too soon will most likely end in a denial, it might be best just to wait a while until my odds improve.

apped on the 21st instantly denied. recon ne t day underwriter stated i was auto denied for bk without 24 months history, on manual re iew it was over turned. bk was 32 months ago

So are you saying you app'ed on the 21st month instead of the 24 months, and now you've had the CC for a while and are 32 months post BK? Or you just app'ed on Sept 21st, 2014 but because of the BK was instantly denied and after they reviewed your CR and saw you're 32 months post BK, they then approved you? I also see that my Auto Loan that I've refinanced with NFCU is showing a 24 month history, all with on time payments, I wonder if that would be enough? I haven't had any CCs that long at this point.

Re: Consider NASA...questions

Anyone else run into a strange problem with NASA? I opened my account funded 50.00 from Paypal, instant approval, but the balance says it is $5.00. I got my membership cards yesterday. My credit card is funded as well, but havent received it.  I wonder how long it takes them to fix the issue.
