I have had my Costco Visa for years. I also have a few ofher cards with Citi. My limit has remained $5,000 for years. For some reason, I can't get a CLI, even with FICO over 800 and less than 2-3 % utilization. Everything is paid off monthly. My latest denial reason was the following :
•You already have the maximum amount of credit we allow without pulling a credit bureau report.
•We currently do not have your consent to pull a credit bureau report.
im confused. I've been playing the CC for decades. They say I have the maximum amount of credit w/o a credit bureau pull. Don't they soft pull each month? Any insights?
Which is so weird. Not sure I want to give them up a HP though but weird they do a soft pull each month
So they tell you what you need to do, do it if you want a higher limit.
If you really have over an 800 then a HP will be a couple point drop max.
Have you put a lot of activity on the Citi Costco card ?
I noticed I received an auto CLI after putting active spend on it.
Honestly just to use it for Costco. Maybe I'm gonna have to spend more on it each month.

I mean, yes, but also I'd recommend OP consider whether they have other plans that may be adversely impacted by the HP. If they're planning on applying for several new CCs, for instance, it might not be worth adding a CLI HP on top. It's true that HPs only drop one's score by a few points, but if you have more than 2 or 3 HPs in a short period of time, that could seriously dent your ability to get approved for new credit cards for the next 6 months-1 year. Issuers don't just look at score; they also look at number of HPs, especially number of HPs within 6 months-1 year.
(I'm assuming - perhaps wrongly - that OP's current credit limit is sufficient for their actual spending needs, and that they would just prefer to have a CLI to optimize utilization and/or for vanity purposes).

Yes! This!!
We got a Citi Costco card with a starting $6,800 SL. After 4 months with charging it to the SL every month and then paid in full before statement cuts, we applied for a CLI. Instant approval to $11,800 ($5K increase).
My Dad had $17500 on his Citi Costco card w/o a credit pull, must be a new policy
Hi,
yes. Currently I'm ok with the limit but would like more to increase my total CL. And I have thought about doing the hard inquiry which could/would be problematic for any new cards I apply for in the coming year.
I believe Citi pulls EQ for CLI
