Couple of Chase Questions

Is the 5/24 only open cards? I have opened more than 5/24 but since closed some store cards. Only 5 are still open from the last 24.

Also... can you walk into a branch and see about Preapprovals if you only have a CC or is this for people who have other banking accounts?

Thanks

Its 5 cards opened in the last 24 months, regardless if you closed them within that time.  And yes you can go into a branch and ask about preapprovals without being a customer.

Re: Couple of Chase Questions

Is there a typical time frame of how long before you would get Preapprovals either on your offers section online or in branch? I've only been a chase customer for 4 months. Probably too soon?? Or is it based solely on your FICO? And will opening a checking or savings help like it does at US Bank? Do they value relationships? Thx

Re: Couple of Chase Questions

Another option is to find a non 5/24 Chase card, if there any left.  Get that card, then wait 3-6 months and maybe see some "your offers" to bypass 5/24.

While it doesn't appear that this is the case for your example, the opening and closing of cards is the reason why Chase began the policy. It's to discourage churners from applying for cards solely for signup bonuses then closing the cards.

Chase Amazon Visa Signature must be non-5/24 since I got approved with 7 new credit cards since May '16. ☺

I just got the Amazon Prime...I was hoping I didn't have to wait the 3-6mths to try for the CSP...but I will need an offer or pre-approval since my app spree put me over 5/24 think I'm right at 6/24...

Re: Couple of Chase Questions

Keep in mind that there are plenty of examples of people being approved for Chase cards that are > 5/24; 5/24 isn't a be all end all "rule" and is just a guideline.  I'm at 5/24 but get pre-quals for 3 Chase products every time I check.  People on this forum have reported being 11/24, even 30/24 and have still been approved for a Chase card.

I hope that proves true for me in a few short months!
