So about a month ago, I was preapproved for a Crate and Barrel MC. I didnt' accept the offer at the time. About a week or so ago, I tried the prequal tool again. It came back and said that it couldn't prequal me because the time since the last application was too soon. Nothing on my report has changed, in fact it has improved (one pretty large balance is now paid off). Synchrony seems to like me. They've CLI'd on my sams club, Hom furniture, and Amazon card. I'm wondering if it's worth it to apply?
I recently received the card. I'm a huge C&B shopper so for me it's worth it! I shop there often and love the promotional financing options and the cash back option. If you shop there often and purchase big ticket items, it's well worth it.
I hope this helps.
Edit: My mistake, kindly ignore this.

In my experience, the only reason to have a card issued by Synchony Bank is to take advantage of some interest-free credit offer sponsored by a retailer. We got one from Levin Furniture for something like 24 month interest free on $5K. So, sure, we took their lame card. The credit limit was low, the interest rate was high (on stuff purchased outside of an offer described above) and the "extra benefits" were slim to none. We had the same experince on a card for The Tile Shop issued by Comenity Bank. Also low limit, high interest outside the offer, and no real reason to keep the card. We closed both cards immediately after paying off the special offer.
It seems like these "retailer oriented" cards basically just suck, compared to all-purpose cards issued by a more mainstream bank or credit union.

I tend to agree, especially on the closed loop store cards, there a very few exceptions. The Sam's Club MC is one from Synchrony that I would call a decent to good card. But overall, I agree with that sentiment.
