Credit Card Strategy - Next Steps?

What's up Peeps?

I was recently approved for the Amex Gold Card 50K Offer. Confirmed points with the customer service rep. Amex has some really great customer service folks. Anywho, I have been debating next steps strategy. I am excited to be apart of the Amex family and heard that typically you can apply for a Charge Card and a Credit Card within a five-day period from Amex and since I am in their system already it would not be a hard pull. I am seeing an offer for Blue Business Plus 10K Offer after meeting the $3000 MS in 3 months. Should I try my luck and see what happens? Can anyone advise as to whether this Business Card reports to your personal credit report? This card would not count toward my 5/24 correct?

1. My strategy was originally to wait and go after the Chase cards on or around September/October but then I got approved for the Amex Gold and had to come up with a minimum spend plan first and hold off on increasing the CLIs on the other two cards: CapOne QS1 and Discover.

2. Should I go back and wait until after I have met the MS on the Amex Gold, CLIs on QS1, CLIs on Disco, and see where my credit score is at come October (maybe closer to 680 by then on Exprian as of today its at 654) and see if it is worth going for the CSP/IBP or CF/IBP app-o-rama?

TIA!

In my opinion and what I have read recently:

Chase no longer approves multiple cards apped for closely together

ANY app-o-Rama is asking for trouble in today's lending environment

A 680 score indicates a profile with some issues (no judgment, we have all had issues at some point) and isn't a profile that can withstand multiple apps

CLI on cap1 and discover cards are normally SP so don't effect apps (unless you are trying to show higher credit limits)

Do you have a business? Do you have a plan for spending MR points? Amex business cards do not report to your personal reports (unless you default)

Just because you can be approved for something doesn't mean you should apply.

Chase no longer approves multiple cards apped for closely together. Good to know. Staying away from that spacing apps further apart is much better for rapport with issuer.

A 680 score indicates a profile with some issues (no judgment, we have all had issues at some point) and isn't a profile that can withstand multiple apps. Got it! Wait until I am a little over 700 and/or get pre-approvals for cards that I want from Chase.

CLI on cap1 and discover cards are normally SP so don't effect apps (unless you are trying to show higher credit limits) This is correct. That is the plan. I have a CapOne CLI in May, possible Discover in April at least once a month is what I am hearing from reps on my end. Who knows? Hoping that either having a $5K balance on one card or an overall CL of $5K across all cards will make next issuer, ideally Chase comfortable enough to approve me for the CSP.

Do you have a business? Do you have a plan for spending MR points? Amex business cards do not report to your personal reports (unless you default) Yes, I do. I have a SP and plan on redeeming all points for Transfer Partners via Amex.

Just because you can be approved for something doesn't mean you should apply. Understood, it could cause another hard inquiry and appear credit hungry but I am just trying to get a business credit card if Amex already approved me for one of their mid-tier travel rewards card then adding the BBP should not be a problem. I'll play this one by ear maybe there is a higher welcome offer after I hit the MS on Amex Gold.

Re: Credit Card Strategy - Next Steps?

Well the good news is you don't have to be in a rush to app for the Amex business card. Most of the time once you are an active card holder (give it a month or two) new apps are done on a SP. So you don't have to try to meet 2 SUB at once.

Back when I was working on increasing my Discover CL I would log in after the statement generated, pay the statement balance then request an increase, I got a ton of denials but my card grew from 4k to >30k in 3 or 4 years (I quit asking). As many many people will tell you there doesn't seem any set guidelines with discover on cli timeframes.

Re: Credit Card Strategy - Next Steps?

I got the Green, Gold and Everyday Blue all in 1 day......BOOM!    2 weeks later since the Pre Qual site was still giving Pre approvals I got the Plat card.  So 4 cards all in about a 2 week time period.....NO HARD Pull as I had already gotten the Everyday Day Preferred about 7 months earlier.
