Credit one bank

So, 9 months post BAnkruptcy and I finally took the leap and applied for a cc through Credit One Bank. I received a voicemail from the a couple days letter and immediately called back. Several attempts led to reps telling me no one from Credit Bank had called me and that I had no reason to be calling them. WTH??? I have the voicemail, number and a name. Last rep told me to wait for a letter. 1 week later, I get a letter from them today, stating that due to a credit alert on my file, they were unable to process my application and that they were unable to contact me.
Well.....experian sent me a credit alert through their TrustedID program saying there was a credit inquiry from Credit One Bank...... what gives?
I called C1B and they transferred me to a specialist but of course that department was closed for the day. I left a vm asking for a call back and will call back again myself tomorrow.
What do you think? Did they indeed do a credit application check if I got the credit alert? Did they not do a full check?

I have a credit alert placed on all 3 reporting agencies because I’ve been dealing with identity theft off and on since about 2011. Should I remove it?

I’m just trying to get a start on rebuilding my credit and it seems like it’s never going to happen. I had a family member add me as an authorized user to a credit card and within a month my transunion score jumped up 64 points, per credit karma. I know these things take time but jeez, feels like everyone but me has a “I got approved after 2 weeks of discharge!” Kind of story.

Advice? Just venting here. Thanks all!

Re: Credit one bank

No, I tried the pre-approval first and capital one said there was nothing for me but C1B said I was preapproved. That’s why I tried them

Re: Credit one bank

oh okay. I know Capital One is an easy approval after bk.

Anyway, if you got an alert from Credit One then they definitely ran your credit. They might just need to verify your identity. Try calling again tomorrow.

Re: Credit one bank

I really dislike Credit One because of their fees and all their scam tactics.  Honestly, I would prefer to get a secured card over them any day.  Have you tried Discover's prequalify page?  I've heard pretty good things with them.

Re: Credit one bank

Did the letter say "fraud alert" rather than "credit alert"? If that's the case, banks can pull your credit, but they can't approve you without additional steps to verify your identity. That would be the case with any card you applied for.

I agree with the suggestion above. If you can be approved by a different bank and let your Credit One application wither and die, you'll be better off. The hard pull would be a tiny price to pay to save yourself the headache of dealing with that bank.

Re: Credit one bank

No, it said “credit alert”. The letter said they weren’t able to complete the application, not that they were flat out denying it. I’m getting a bad vibe from them, despite all the “glowing” reviews people have about them. If they weren’t able to answer any of my questions or verify my identity thrugh any of the previous 7 calls I made, maybe I should just let it die. I think I’ll just wait until I am 12 mo the post BK to try again.
