@pipeguy wrote:Funny thing about DCU, they denied me a Visa when I first joined, but I reapplied a month later with nothing really changing on my CR or scores and was instatly approved for a $7k started CL.
It's a great card, NO cost cash advances or transfers, just "click" to your checking account and pay it off before the next cycle - Zero APR "payday loan" heh...
I don't think they HP'ed me a second time either.
Pipeguy,
Why were you denied the first time?

Applied 10.18.25 Credit too new to rate. Excessive number of credit file inquiries. Excessive number of new accounts.
Applied 11.25.14 - Instant approval $7k
Go Figure...

I would really prefer a CLI on my Penfed card, but not holding my breath. I think you're all right though, DCU isn't really known for high limit cards.
B335is I recieved a 15K limit on their regular platinum card, I do not know if anyone else has recieved higher limit.....

Pipeguy,
Thanks for the info. I had a similar denial. Did you apply right after they approved membership?
Tray,
Thanks. 15k isn't terrible. Given my track record with CUs 15k would be great.

B335 - yeah pretty much within a week at least. Just added a new (2013 used) car loan in December and that was super easy - went for a pre-approval which was good for 30 days and my guess of what I needed was actually higher than what I used.
I know DCU gets generally positive reviews on here with some mixed reviews, but frankly having experience with PenFed, Congressional FCU, Dept of Commerce FCU and NASA - my experiece is that DCU blows them all away (note I didn't get in on the NASA gravy train, although I did score on Diners). Of course everyone loves PenFed but after being with them going o 40 years, we are not seeing eye to eye anymore.
What were your scores at the time of those apps?

Mid-700's (731 to 753) on here, but DCU's FICO came back as 691 (they don't use FICO08). As a datapoint, DCU told me their best rate auto loans require a 675 using their scoring model - don't know about the Visa requirement(s).
