.....well I was doing good, I was going to wait another couple of months before I started applying for anything else. I already understood that the Chase Saphhire would not take anyone with 5 or so cards opening in the past 2 years..I knew that. But...I saw an add from the "Points Guy" just talking about the card and all the bells and whistles..and before I knew it...I went to the Chase website and started applying. I hit the enter button...and got the 7-10 weeks..which in the past has been a good thing. That just meant that I needed to call them up, verify a couple of things....bada boom bada bing...and I am good to go. Well, that was not the case..I verified some things with ole Cynthia..and she put me on hold and came back with the knock out puch! My question is...has anybody gotten this card with more than 5 card openings in the past 2 years? Chase has really shown me love in the past..I have 5 cards from Chase..Marriot, Hyatt, IHG, Freedom and Amazon......65k limit combined on those cards..can I really be upset? I should be upset....I should just be happy..right??? But damn I want that card!
It's tough, but those that have been approved above the 5/24 have had in branch pre-approvals. There may have been the rare approval online, but definitely a rare happening.
The only way around the 5/24 has been if you have a pre-approval offer in the branch or if you are a Chase Private Client.
I am WAY over 5/24 and went into the branch to see if I had a pre-approval for the Reserve. Unfortunately I only had pre-approvals for the Slate and the Chase Sapphire Preferred. If I close on my house tomorrow - I am def going back to the branch to apply for the Slate as I could really use a 0% APR card right now.
