DISCOVER Form 4506-T/4506-C

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Been a member since 2019 when I filed BK7 and this forum has provided so so so much invaluable info during my rebuild. I read these posts for fun, as I am now addicted to knowing all things credit related😊. I now have the opportunity to share my experience and I hope it helps someone, like you all have helped me.

So, Discover was on my bucket list, since starting my rebuild. I can't even tell you how many times I tried the prequal, all with the same results. Fast forward to May 2021, I finance a car through Cap 1, my NFCU secured card graduates AND I apply and approved for the More Rewards Visa (SL $7500) all within the same week!! To my surprise and utter delight, I receive a mailer from Discover inviting me to apply. At first, I was like, this is just some marketing thing, they're not gonna approve me. But then I got to thinking...I just apped for the car and a new card and since I like to "batch app" then garden, I thought...what the hell, what's 1 more HP. So, I applied and was approved for $5,000 SL!! Boy, was I excited. this was the card I wanted. Mama I made it!!! Then 2 days after the approval, I received that email - Verification Services requests yur signature on IRS Consent Form 4506-C. Huh? What? Back to the forums I go and I find this thread.

I call discover and let them know that I changed jobs this year and my income now will not match what's on my 2020 return. The rep tells me "We've got a work-around for that" and tells me I need to send in 3 months worth of notarized bank statements and if all checks out, my new card will be good to go. So, I hang up and ponder if i wanna give them all this really personal info, just for a credit card! I decide that I didn't want to waste a HP and I didn't inflate my income, so I signed the 4506-C. But, then I realized, I wouldn't receive my most current statement until the end of June. I call Discover again and asked what I should do. He said to wait until the statement was available, since it typically takes 2 weeks for them to receive the 1040 transcripts. At this point, I am preparing myself for them to close my account, as I've seen that was the most common conclusion to these inquiries. Well, I received an email from Discover yesterday advising that they have completed their investigation and the hold has been lifted from my account!!!!! I gotta tell you...I wasn't expecting that. I hadn't even sent in my bank statements yet and it had been less than 2 weeks!!  I am so elated!!!! not even about the SL, but that I now have a card that I can grow with and is step above my Cap 1's and Comenity Cards. I can go happily into the garden for a couple of years, until i'm eliglible for that Chase, Citi or AMEX.

I hope my little "story time" helps someone on here looking for a positive end to the 4506 request, because I didn't see any when I searched. And if there are any DP's I can provide, let me know.
