@Anonymous wrote:I wish I would have thought of that! I just got my secured card in the mail today, and found out that it is not the Discover IT, but the chrome version of that (no rotating 5% cashback categories, just a flat 2% on groceries and gas, i think, and 1% on everything else).
Maybe I'll try calling CS and see if they can do anything for me. I intend for this to be my main card because its the only one I have that doesn't charge any FTFs, and I work outside the US for 8 months out of the year...
Contact CS and find out what your statement date is. I was told I can get the 5% bonuses added but not until the first statement cuts. Mine is on the 10th so I can keep you informed when the day comes around.
I was approved with a FICO score of 567 with only one open line of credit for a retail card valuing $100 and about $2000 in unpaid debt still. I figured now that I was at a point where more than 1/2 of my original debt was paid off(previously high was about $5500 owed) I should try for a secured card to get the ball rolling.
This is my Transunion score BTW. They tried to pull one of the others but they're both frozen so I called and asked to to TU and they did so and I was good to go. Also of note, I had 3 inquiries on TU before this.
