I have a credit score of ~730 and was declined when trying to open a Amazon store card. I don't have any late payments. I paid my 2016 Honda Civic off with no late payments.
I do notice that the my credit reports do not list an Employer despite the fact that I have been with my company for 3 years, have paid taxes and have a 401k with the company.
I also notice that the Equifax report is missing my middle initial from my name
Could a mismatch in inforamtion provided vs what is on the credit report be the culprit?
I'm no expert but it could be a verification issue. Seems like there are a lot of that going on when banks try to verify with public records. I never have any problem with verification until recently. Have you tried calling in to find out?
The way stuff lands on your reports is if creditors submit that information. If you haven't been asked for the name of your employer when you've applied for credit, that information is unlikely to land on your report. Or maybe you've been asked, and it's not among the data that your lenders have submitted.
Is the Honda loan the only account on your report? Was your middle initial on the loan? I don't see it as a big deal that it's not currently on your report. I've never had an issue applying for credit under the name I choose to use at the time. My report has:
