Hmm, where do I start? Oh yeah! Congratulations to all the members of this forum that have been successful in obtaining the ultimate name brand in credit cards. It seems that life in the credit card world is unfair until you get approved for the credit card you have been dreaming of
anyways, I am extremely disappointed at myself due to the fact that I should have known I was not ready to apply for Amex or Discover but it was the only two credit cards companies with big names I had not applied for. I said, well before the year is over I'll see if I can apply for these credit cards and hope for the best and expect the worst. I guess my expectations came true, I was declined for both! DECLINED!!!!!!! PLEASE keep reading. I have a trip coming up with Delta Airlines next month and I've been holding on to purchase that ticket with my other credit card to get a 1.5% cash back because I was being hopeful that I could perhaps get approved for Delta Amex Gold and have all the wonderful things that this credit card has to offer. I love Delta Airlines, man I wish they had some type of secured Amex or something (please don't suggest that horrible program they have with the "serve") that's absolutely the worst thing I have ever seen. In case you didn't know, I am letting all my emotions out. I honestly want to stop where I'm at for good. I want to wait at least until all my credit apps fall out planet earth and then try this thing again. Man, I am going to be older when I do this LOL.. anyways have a good nite everyone and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and same for 2015 and same for 2016 because it's going to be the next time I post something here regarding credit unless I get approved sooner hahaha. Seriously! It's going to be awhile before I throw another app. C-ya.

Hang in there, buddy. It feels terrible, I know, but it's not the end of your credit career. You'll get that plastic that you want, and I know it won't be in time for your upcoming flight, but in time you'll get there for sure.
Just keep chugging along, pay your bills, and plan out your attack for 2015.
The WorLd Is Yours
Don't feel bad Discover hates me too.
Yet every day, I mean every day they send me something telling me I am pre-approved. Beatiful stuff they send, gold covered. Different shapes. Must cost them at least a dollar. Engraving on heavy card stock telling me how much they love me, No interest on BT's for 2 years. Oh please please apply for our card.
Yet every time in the past I have applied I have been turned down. So now I guess I am playing hard to get or something as I just can't seem to pull the trigger on the application. Now that Sam's has dropped them a lot of the incentive has gone.
Oh yeah AMEX wants me to apply too. Even though they turned me down. Even though I burned them many years ago. They keep telling me I am pre-approved with them.
I want the AMEX Delta. But can't pull the trigger on another app. Knowing they are just sending me stuff so they can laugh at me when I do apply.

Sorry to hear that. if you want the best of best, build your score up to the 700s to be on the safe side. Don't apply for any cards and they will come to you not you going to them. When the scores are higher too, you get bigger initial limits also. Don't let it get you down. You will get there.
Don't worry you'll eventually get them. I ended up getting approved for Discover (lowest limit on my cards) but AMEX doesnt like me. I've seen scores similar to mine get approved and some lower for higher cards from AMEX, I just wanted to have the green card. I tried hard to get them even 2 recons but they just do not like me!
OP please, please, please (yes I'm begging) don't be discouraged by the denial! Just to share a brief Amex smackdown story with you; my first Amex app was last year in March (instant denial) and I felt just like you. The next in May (instant denial). I tried in August (instant denial). I was about where you are right now after the August smackdown, but glutton for punishment that I am I pulled the trigger again in October (10th to be exact), instant APPROVAL! Low limit yes, but I am coming up on my 61st day this week. I cannot tell you the feeling of relief when I saw approved for both the Delta and PRG! Of note, I was denied in August with a 660 credit score, approved in October with a 661 credit score on Experian!
So please hang in there....garden some and give Amex another shot in a few months. You won't be disappointed!
At least you were denied by some real "dream cards".
My dream card was a Capital One card and they denied me 3 times costing me 9 hard pulls (3 on each credit report). I finally got my "dream card" Capital One on the 4th try!! Yay?
12 Hard pulls later (4 on each credit report) I had my Dream Capital One with personalized image to impress the cashiers.
So you don't have it bad Just keep chugging along.
Don't be discouraged. You can always try them again at another time when your scores are much higher and your accounts have aged more.
