Delta SkyMiles® Blue Bonus

In 2020, I downgraded my Delta SkyMiles Gold to a Delta SkyMiles® Blue credit card. I don't remember what happened but I assume that I didn't get a signup bonus for the Blue credit card when I did this downgrade. If I cancel my Blue card and 3 months later, I apply for the Blue card, will I get the signup bonus?

Unfortuntately, no. Once you downgrade to a new card product with Amex you are no longer eligible for that card's signup bonus. 

Also, they changed the eligiblity terms late last year for the Delta cards. You can only get the bonus for the SkyMiles Platinum and Reserve now considering you've already had the SkyMiles Gold. 

Are you short 10-20K SkyMiles for a trip? The SkyMiles Blue really isn't worth applying for as a new card anyways given its rather lackluster bonus and perks.

I don't have a booking I need to do now, but I'm sure I could use the 10K bonus the Blue card would give me. The Available Credit for this card is $5,400.00. I have been denied some card before because my income was low. I think I should cancel my Blue card so it would lower the Available Credit for all my cards, am I right? One thing for sure, I will never downgrade an Amex card again, if it prevents me to get the signup bonus for this new card.
