Denied American Express Blue Cash ... HALP

Hello guys so I just got denied an AMEX blue cashback card. I really wanted one as my 2nd credit card to build credit and thought I would be ok since my credit score from Trilegent WF ID THEFT states aroudn 690 - 730 and Creditkarma states 675 - 741 my odds were "Very Good" for this card. Apparently not ... lol. My question is why? I have had a WF credit card for 5 years with 0 late payments and used only about 2000 of 6000 limit. Always almost max out  my card then pay way over minimum payemnts and then pay back 90% of balance at one time usually. I have one collection account from 4 years ago that I haven't touched due to scam/id theft its about $1800. I am a student currently a senior 0 LOANS OR SCHOOL DEBT. I dont rent apt or have car loans and I am a part time server making about 10-15k a year. I really want this card and am about to call the credit team to appeal their desicion and want to make some good arguements. What should I do? I go to a prestigious university double majoring Finance and Accounting. Will be breaking into banking and my internship alone pays 25 an hour with a signing bonus of 2500 FT ~ 60k starting and thats being modest. Is it cause I only have had 1 card or my low server salary or mainly just that stupid collection from when I was 18? BTW I'm 23. Any help would be appreciated.

TLDR: Got Denied an Amex Blue Cash Credit score ~675 - 740. Part Time Server Full Time Student no loans no debts 1 untouched collection from 4 years ago ~1800. Trying to appeal Amex's desicion.

I'd say part of the reason is the 10-15k a year income.

Also, if you're maxing out your card you should be paying down a portion of the balance (or all of it) before your statement so your utilization doesn't report so high.

Re: Denied American Express Blue Cash ... HALP

just called amex to ask for an appeal ... apparently the reason is they got a credit score from experian saying i have a credit score of 633 ... which does not make any since ... and a failure of some loan or something ... lmao **bleep** ...

Sorry to hear about the denial but I think the bigger issue here is discrepencies on your EX report. You might want to pull your annual report for free if possible directly from the bureaus website and see if you can identify the issue. Or start a dispute on the bureaus website and view it that way. If there's an error you would have a decent chance of recon with Amex once its fixed. Either way I think you should figure out whats going on with your report Smiley Happy GL

You should be able to go to Experian's site and get a free report as a result of you denial of credit.
